How to Turn Every New Shopify Product Into a TikTok and Reel Automatically (Image-to-Video Workflow)

TikTok and Reels want motion, but your product photos are stills. An image-to-video workflow animates the product photo the moment you add a product and posts it with a caption. Here is the setup, the prompts, and which video model to pick.

Quick Answer

Build an Autoadify workflow with the "New Shopify product" trigger, then Write caption, Include video (animate the product photo at 9:16) and Publish to TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Each new product becomes a short vertical clip with its own caption. Runs on Solo ($19/mo) and above.

What you need

  • A paid plan for monthly credits: Solo ($19/mo) or Pro ($29/mo) for more videos
  • Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix connected, with at least one clean product photo per product
  • TikTok, Instagram and/or YouTube connected

Why Stills Underperform on TikTok and Reels

A product photo posted to TikTok is a photo post in a feed built for video. It can work as a carousel (see product carousels), but a single still rarely holds the first second. Filming every product is the fix nobody has time for: set up, shoot, edit, export, caption, for each SKU. Image-to-video gets you most of the way from a photo you already have: the product turns, the fabric moves, the camera pushes in.

Build It: Four Steps

1. Trigger: New Shopify product

Fires when a product is created. The product's photos, title, description and price are passed to every step.

2. Write caption

Write a TikTok caption for this product: one hook line under 80 characters that names the moment you'd use it, then one line on what it is and the price. Add 3–5 hashtags. Casual, no emojis in the first line.

TikTok rewards a hook in the first line and three to six hashtags, not twenty.

3. Include video → Animate an image

Set the source image to Product photo, the aspect ratio to 9:16, and describe the motion. Let the product move, not just the camera:

The jacket on a hanger turns slowly toward the camera, the fabric sways slightly, soft daylight from a window, slow push-in. Clean background, no text.

4. Publish

Choose TikTok, Instagram (as a Reel) and YouTube (as a Short). TikTok publishes with the privacy and interaction settings you saved for that account, so set those once before switching the workflow on. Start with Save as draft while you check how the model handles your products.

Which Video Model Should You Pick?

Veo 3.1 LiteEveryday product clips at volume, simple motionAll plans
HeyGen Video 1Quick test runs; 480p, always has soundAll plans
Seedance 2.0 MiniFabric, liquids, more natural movementSolo+
Veo 3.1 FastHero products, sharper detail, optional soundSolo+

Video is billed per second, so shorter clips on Veo 3.1 Lite stretch furthest. Failed generations are refunded automatically.

Try it on one product first: build the workflow, hit Test run on an existing product, and watch the clip before anything posts. Start with Autoadify.

Honest Limits

  • It animates; it doesn't film. Expect a turn, a sway, a push-in. It won't show the product being used by a person the way real footage would.
  • Busy photos animate badly. A product on a clean background animates cleanly. A lifestyle shot with five objects in it may move the wrong thing.
  • Small text on packaging can warp. Check labels on the first few runs, and move up a model tier if they don't hold.
  • New products only. To give existing products the same treatment, use a scheduled random-product workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the video have sound?

Veo models can add ambient sound in the same pass; HeyGen Video 1 always has sound; others are silent. On TikTok you can add a trending sound in the app after posting if the post is a draft.

How long are the clips?

Each model offers set lengths: Veo 4, 6 or 8 seconds; Seedance and Kling 5, 10 or 15. Six to eight seconds is the sweet spot for a looping product clip.

Can the same workflow post to Reels and Shorts?

Yes. Add Instagram and YouTube to the Publish step; each gets its own fitted caption.

Will it post the product photo too?

Not in this workflow. Run the image workflow alongside it if you want both.

What if a product has several photos?

The animate step uses the main product photo. Put your cleanest shot first in Shopify.

Which plan?

Solo for a few videos a month, Pro for a product video on most launches, Team for Veo 3.1 at full quality. See pricing.

The Bottom Line

You already have a photo of every product. One workflow turns each new one into a vertical video with a caption and posts it to TikTok, Reels and Shorts. For one-off videos with several photos stitched together, see the AI product video generator guide. Build the workflow.
