# X (Twitter) Font Generator

> Bold and styled text for X posts, replies, your bio and display name.

## Short answer

X has no formatting toolbar for ordinary posts, so bold text on X is made of Unicode characters. Type above, copy a style, and paste it into the composer, your bio or your display name.

## Where this works on X (Twitter)

- **Posts** — 280 characters on a free account; 25,000 with Premium.
- **Bio** — 160 characters.
- **Display name** — 50 characters — searchable, so style with care.
- **Replies & quotes** — Identical rendering to posts.
- **Lists & Communities** — Names and descriptions accept Unicode.

Character budget: X bio allows 160 characters.

## How styled characters count against your 280

X counts characters, not bytes, for the Latin-script range — so a bold Unicode letter costs one character, the same as a plain one. That is not true of every platform, and it makes X one of the safer places to style text without losing room.

The exception is the enclosed and fullwidth styles. Fullwidth characters render at roughly double width, so a fullwidth post fills the visible card long before it hits 280 and gets awkward on mobile.

## Premium formatting vs Unicode

X Premium added genuine bold and italic formatting in the composer for long-form posts. If you have Premium and you are writing long-form, use it — real formatting stays searchable and accessible.

For everything else — the 280-character post, the bio, the display name, Community names — there is still no formatting, and Unicode is the only option.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do you bold text on X?

Free accounts have no bold button, so paste Unicode bold characters from the generator above. X Premium subscribers get real bold and italic in long-form posts only.

### Do fancy fonts count as more characters on X?

No. Styled Latin letters count as one character each against the 280-character limit.

### Can I change my X display name font?

Yes, the 50-character display name accepts Unicode. Your @handle cannot be styled.

### Does styled text affect X search?

Yes. X search matches literal characters, so styled words will not surface for the plain-text query.
