# Social Media Image Size Guide

> Current image and video dimensions for every major platform and format — feed posts, stories, reels, covers, profile pictures and ad units.

**The rule that outlasts the numbers.** Design to the tallest safe ratio a platform accepts, then let it crop down. 4:5 for feed, 9:16 for full-screen vertical. Square is safe but wastes vertical space on mobile, which is where nearly all of the viewing happens.

**Text safe areas matter more than pixel dimensions.** Platform UI overlays the top and bottom of vertical video. Keeping text within the middle 80% survives every crop.
