# How to Turn Your Blog or Docs Repo Into a Week of Social Posts With Codex (Setup + 5 Prompts)

> Your best social content is already written: it's the markdown in your blog or docs repo. Codex can read it, pull out the parts worth posting, write a week of posts for each article, and schedule them through Autoadify without leaving the terminal.

## Quick Answer

**Run `codex mcp add autoadify --url https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp` and `codex mcp login autoadify`. Then point Codex at a post in your blog or docs repo and ask for a week of social posts from it: one angle per day, written per network, with images where they help. Codex saves them as Autoadify drafts or schedules them across the week. Needs Autoadify Pro.**

## Codex + Autoadify at a Glance

| Field | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Best for | Teams whose content lives in a repo: engineering blogs, docs sites, changelogs, open-source projects |
| Where it runs | Codex CLI and the Codex IDE extension. |
| Autoadify plan | Pro ($29/mo) and above, for MCP access |
| What Codex does | Reads your markdown and images, writes per-network posts, uploads local images, drafts or schedules |
| Networks | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Threads, YouTube, Bluesky and Reddit |
| Sign-in | OAuth, stored in Codex's own credential store |

## Why Repurpose From the Repo

A good technical article has five or six postable ideas in it: the problem, the surprising number, the diagram, the mistake you made, the one-line takeaway. Most teams post the link once and move on. The article took a week to write; the social posts that would bring people to it take an hour nobody has.

Codex already has the article open: it's a file in the repo it's working in, along with the images it references. So the repurposing happens where the source is, with no copy-pasting into a chat window.

## 1\. Connect (two commands)

1. Run the two commands below.
2. Sign in to Autoadify in the browser that opens and approve.

```
codex mcp add autoadify --url https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp
codex mcp login autoadify
```

More: [Autoadify in Codex](/mcp/codex).

## 2\. Find the angles (prompts 1–2)

> **Prompt 1.** Read content/blog/how-we-cut-build-times.md. List the 5 ideas in it that stand alone as a post: a problem, a number, a mistake, a technique, a takeaway. For each, quote the line it comes from.

> **Prompt 2.** Rank them by how useful they'd be to someone who'll never read the article. Drop the weakest.

## 3\. Write the week (prompt 3)

> **Prompt 3.** Check my Autoadify channels and their limits. Write one post per idea for Monday to Thursday: X under 280 characters, LinkedIn with more context, Bluesky under 300 characters. Only Thursday's post links to the article. Plain language, no "excited to share".

Spreading the link to one post is deliberate: posts that teach something on their own get read and shared, and the one link post benefits from the three before it.

## 4\. Images from the repo (prompt 4)

> **Prompt 4.** The article uses public/images/build-times-chart.png and public/images/pipeline.png. Upload both to my Autoadify media library and attach the chart to the number post and the pipeline diagram to the technique post.

Codex uploads files from disk with `create_media_upload` and `complete_media_upload`. Your own diagrams beat generated images for technical posts, and they cost no credits.

## 5\. Schedule (prompt 5)

> **Prompt 5.** Save Monday to Wednesday as drafts. Schedule Thursday's link post for 9am Pacific. Then list everything with its status.

**Get more out of what you've already written:** connect Codex and run this on your last article. [Start with Autoadify](https://app.autoadify.com/?utm_source=blog&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=feature&utm_content=codex-blog-repo-to-social-media-posts).

## Honest Limits

- **It summarises what's in the file.** If the article is wrong or outdated, the posts will be too.
- **Read every post once.** The angle extraction is good; the tone can drift into marketing voice. Prompt 3's "no excited to share" line exists for a reason.
- **Local images need a shell.** Uploading from disk works in the Codex CLI and IDE extension. For a URL, Codex can use `import_media` instead.
- **Not every article is a week.** A short post may only have one idea. Let prompt 2 drop the weak ones.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Does this work with any static site generator?

Yes. Codex reads markdown or MDX files directly, whatever builds them: Next.js, Astro, Hugo, Docusaurus, Jekyll.

### Can I use an API key instead of signing in?

Yes. Create one in Autoadify under Settings → API & MCP for CI or scripts, and use the [REST API](/social-media-api).

### How do I disconnect Codex?

Run `codex mcp logout autoadify`, which removes the stored sign-in.

### Can it write a thread on X?

It writes each post separately; schedule them a few minutes apart, or post the thread yourself from the draft text.

### Which networks work best for this?

X, LinkedIn, Bluesky and Threads for technical content. Instagram needs an image or video in every post.

### Which Autoadify plan?

Pro ($29/mo) and above include the MCP server and API. See [pricing](/pricing).

## The Bottom Line

Your repo is a content library. Codex can turn each article into a week of posts that stand on their own, with your own diagrams attached, scheduled through Autoadify from the terminal.
